Are you amateurs of gastronomy? Between gastronomy and local productions, treat yourself to the gastronomic establishments of Saulieu, a remarkable place for taste, or go and meet the local producers around (cheese, honey, beers…). You can also take great delight during culinary art events such as the “les Journées Gourmandes”, “la Fête du Charolais”, wines fairs…).

From the intimacy of the François Pompon Museum to the splendor of the Saint-Andoche Romanesque basilica, Saulieu is full of surprises for sculpture and art amateurs in the city. By going across the territory, discover the advertising frescoes dating from the great time of the Route Nationale 6 and our art artisans. An ancient café in an Art Deco style, a typical station from the end of the 19th century, the castle of Henri IV’s mistress: the heritage’s diversity of our villages is going to surprise you.

Did you know that? Saulieu is the capital city of the Christmas tree! Because of its privileged position as gateway of the Morvan Natural Park, the region exports hundreds of thousands of Christmas trees for Christmas decorations. During winter, around a good wood fire, take a seat and listen the Christmas legends and fairies. The numerous “legendary stones”, megaliths or atypical rocks of our region will enable you to travel next to imaginary beings.

Do you like sports and leisure activities in nature? Come and play in the large natural stadium of the Morvan. You can hike, ride, drive, climb or fish alone or with your family. The old quarry of La Roche-en-Brenil provides the deepest natural site for diving of the East of France and the rounds of the Offroad Granitic Morvan.
